Monitoring and
Evaluation

Tracking progress. Strengthening accountability. Building a better Gauteng.

Our mandate

Driving Performance and Service Delivery

Monitoring and evaluation (M&E) enables the Gauteng Provincial Legislature to assess whether government policies, programmes and budgets deliver real results for the people of Gauteng.

Through oversight, the GPL assesses performance, tracks progress against plans and budgets, and makes recommendations to strengthen service delivery and improve the impact of government programmes.

Our approach

Evidence-Based Oversight

The GPL uses a structured and evidence-based approach to monitor and evaluate government performance, which includes:

  • Reviewing Plans and Targets

Assessing the alignment of departmental plans, budgets and performance targets with provincial priorities.

  • Tracking Implementation

Monitoring progress on programmes and projects through reports, briefings and oversight engagements.

  • Evaluating Impact

Assessing outcomes and the impact of government programmes on the lives of the people of Gauteng.

Key focus areas

Priorities for a Better Gauteng

Our monitoring and evaluation efforts focus on key areas that drive service delivery and improve the quality of life for all in Gauteng, including:

  • Service Delivery

Assessing the delivery of public services to communities.

  • Financial Management

Monitoring the use of public funds and value for money.

  • Programme Performance

Evaluating the effectiveness and impact of government programmes.

  • Governance and Compliance

Ensuring adherence to legislation, policies and regulations.

Reports and outcomes

Turning Findings into Action
